Why Our Skin Changes?
All young, smooth skin has one thing in common: hyaluronic acid. It provides
the skin with volume and is a naturally occurring component in young, supple
skin. Found in skin tissue, hyaluronic acid fills the space between collagen
and elastin fibers, holding in water and maintaining the skin's volume. This
building block of sorts is actually a complex sugar found through all living
organisms and is able to absorb an astounding 1,000 times it's weight in
water.
Unfortunately, as we age and our skin is exposed to the
environment and ultraviolet rays. This helps cause our skin cells to lose
their ability to produce hyaluronic acid. Our skin begins to lose its
ability to retain moisture causing the skin to begin to have a
less-than-plump appearance, especially around the eyes and excess muscle
strength pulls skin into lines. The result: lines, furrows and wrinkles.
